ANCIENT BEHAVING BADLY - CAESAR

Based on the documentary Ancient Behaving Badly, do you think all the vices committed by Julius Caesar were necessary in order to safeguard the superiority of Rome as the greatest civilization in the ancient world?

Based on the documentary Ancient Behaving Badly, I think that all the vices committed by Julius Caesar were not necessary in order to safeguard the superiority of Rome as the greatest civilization in the ancient world. Caesar thought that he wanted to be superior in the world for Rome as the greatest civilization in the ancient world. He also become sexual dominance where he dominated women that whom he known as others wives. He only used the opportunities by being a leader to get women to fulfill his lust. This happened until Brutus killed him as he did not want Caesar to become more cruel. A good leader must not take opportunities for his own good and take care for his followers. It is an appropriate way for not letting Caesar as a leader and all vices that he committed must be exposed to others.

JULIUS CAESAR CARTOON

Do you agree that Brutus had a noble motive when murdering his adopted father, Julius Caesar? Discuss.

Yes, I agree that Brutus had a noble motive when murdering his adopted father, Julius Caesar. Once he met with Cassius and other men after receiving a letter from Cassius, he said that they needed to be sacrificers not butchers. This means that Brutus didn’t want to kill Julius Caesar in evil way but in honorable way. Before killed his adopted father, Brutus kept thinking whether he was doing the right thing or not as he didn’t want Julius Caesar to become a king because he knew his adopted father very well. It was said that Brutus loved his adopted father very much but he had to slew him as he became too ambitious. By killing Caesar, he can stopped Caesar from being too dictator to Romans as he wanted the noble man to be the leader or king.

JACK THE RIPPER IN AMERICA - Documentary

There were many suspects in the ‘Jack the Ripper’ murders over the years. What is the evidence that supports the claim that James Kelly was ‘Jack the Ripper’? If you are the rival detective, how do you eliminate all the evidence that you have identified in the documentary?

The evidence that supports the claim that James Kelly was ‘Jack the Ripper’ is he had murdered his wife in 1883 by stabbing her in the neck. However, James Kelly was not the real ‘Jack the Ripper’ as his last name same as Mary Kelly and had no relation towards her. In the “Jack the Ripper in America”, the detective Ed Norris said that James Kelly worked as a furniture upholsterer and this can be argue as a carpenter didn’t know how to operate human body too fast and they only know how to make furniture. A carpenter also didn’t know where those organs he could get when he operated the human body. James Kelly also changed his name to John Miller when he arrived at New York and we can’t recognize James Kelly if he used that name in that country as there were lots of named ‘John Miller’. Other than that, James Kelly was not ‘Jack the Ripper’ as Kelly was not the real murderer.

FROM HELL

Distinguish between facts and fictions that are portrayed in movie at which aspect of the slot that is accurate to the historical fact in the ‘Jack the Ripper’ murders and which aspects of the plot that is based on the filmmakers’ own imagination.

The facts that are portrayed in movie at which aspect of the slot is accurate to the historical fact in the ‘Jack the Ripper’ murders are the location which was at Whitechapel district of London in 1888; the letter that sent by the murder which was named as ‘From Hell’ with half of preserved human kidney; and one of the victims, Mary Jane Kelly was being murdered. The fictions that are portrayed in movie at which aspect of the plot that is based on the filmmakers’ own imagination are the murder gave clues where he let the victims ate grapes before killing them because grapes are the fruits for rich people; the murder was someone who was professional in surgery because he can operated human body too fast; the victims had relationship where they were all friends that needed to pay the debts to The Nichols gang; and the last victim, a France girl which thought to be Mary Kelly was found murdered.

A leader’s legacy Tun Abdul Razak

Discuss whether or not Tunku Abdul Razak’s son, our current prime minister, Datuk Seri Najib is continuing his father’s legacy primarily in Affirmative Action policy.

From the video A Leader’s Legacy Tun Abdul Razak, I think that Tunku Abdul Razak’s son, Datuk Seri Najib is continuing his father’s legacy primarily in Affirmative Action policy. We know that Tun Abdul Razak had work very hard in making our country in peace especially when the tragedy of May 13, 1969 happened. He had taken a quick action in order to make those things became normal. After Tunku Abdul Rahman resigned from his position, Tun Abdul Razak had replaced the position.  He did so many things in making the nation more peace and developed. For example, he left his position in order to give the people to have the power in choosing the ruler as the way for Malaysia to become in peace was democracy. He also invited the opposition parties like Chinese and Indians parties to join under his party, Barisan Nasional. He launched the New Economic Policy (DEB) as a firm move towards safeguarding our future. Those were Tun Razak’s action in his time leading the country. Datuk Seri Najib also did the same like his father as he wanted to unite all races in Malaysia with his slogan, 1 Malaysia. There were lots of action taken in making this country peace and well-developed. Like father like son can be said to them as their thoughts were the same.

Al-Jazeera 101 East: Malaysian Affirmative Action

Choose one of the 3 guests featured in the talk show 101 East. Then apply discourse analysis in order to understand his arguments. State whether you agree or not towards the proposition, premises and arguments that you can identified.

In the video Al-Jazeera 101 East: Malaysian Affirmative Action, I choose Azeem Farouk, political scientist from University of Science Malaysia. He said that New Economic Policy (NEB) was a good policy as it has ended in 1990. It has eradication from poverty and restructured the society. The strategies always be relevant regardless any whoever rules Malaysia or Penang, a universal policy and for social justice. I agree with his statement as the NEB actually reunited or restructured the society from making the bad tragedy May 13, 1969 happened again. Next, he said that policy has to be fine tune and implemented. So that it can benefit to everyone across the board. Political parties being an organization that seeks votes from society. They have to strategize and reenergize so that people will trust them. I agree with this statement as the policy has become a bond that unite the people where people can voice their opinions and whatever they feel.

Ancient aliens – the evidence

State several evidence which support the ancient astronaut theory. Discuss whether you agree or disagree to the evidence that you have identified.

There are several evidences which can support the ancient astronaut theory. In this video Ancient Aliens – The evidence showed that the pharaohs drew the symbols that mean “I want to fly” and the archaelogists found the small sahara bird replica. They said that from the model, it gave the idea in making the planes. Then, the other evidence was the pyramids. They said that they used the technologies in making the pyramids. For me, I think that I disagree to the evidence that I had identified through the video. What I understand was these kind of evidence showed that the people who lived in that era became more developed as they thought how to build the large pyramids themselves where they had no machine at that time.

Super size me

Based on the facts presented in this documentary, are you convinced that the fast food is the main cause of obesity in United States and around the world.

Based on the facts presented in this documentary, I can convince that the fast food is the main cause of obesity in United States and around the world. If we can see in the first minute of the video, they are telling us about obesity trends among U.S. adults where there are about more than 25% of population obese in Mississippi on 2002. The example of fast food company are McDonalds, KFC, Wendy’s, Burger King, Dominos, Pizza Hut and others. People become attracted towards fast food because they can get the food faster and no need to struggle in the kitchen preparing the food. In this video, Morgan Spurlock want to prove that eating fast food can make us become obese and heading us to many dangerous diseases like heart problems, obesity, high blood pressure and even death. From a healthy person, Morgan changed to be an unhealthy person where he needed to eat super size McDonalds every day for a month. He had to face the problems where his heart getting double for failure and disease, massive headache, mood swings, always depressed and exhausted and fat liver. Doctors also said that fast food can’t be nutritious to human and lead to many diseases. What I can say that fast food is the main cause of obesity in United States and around the world.

In your opinion, do you think Gandhi has failed in his life’s work which is to promote nonviolence reuniting the people of India?

In my opinion, I think Gandhi has not failed in his life’s work which is to promote nonviolence reuniting the people of India. He used nonviolence ways in order to get India become independence country. For example in the movie ‘Gandhi’, although he had been beaten by the British for not to burn the passes, he still doing it until he can. He also the one who persuade the citizen in the country that they have to monopoly the salt at the beach and can get it free rather than they need to buy the exported salt from British. He always reminded his people for not using violence in order to get the independence because he wanted British itself to give the independence. Although he had been a prisoner for a few times, he still has the courage to fight for the independence. He had fight for independence until his last breath.

Do you think Gandhi is responsible for the tragic end of his oldest son, Harilal?

In my opinion, I think that Gandhi is not the one who responsible for the tragic end of his oldest son, Harilal. I said so because everything was started from Harilal himself. First, about his marriage with Gulab. Actually Gandhi was not agree when Harilal said that he wanted to marry early.  He thought that Harilal could be his assistant at Ashram but after been persuaded by his wife, then, he gave his permission to Harilal. After that, Harilal family became larger as they got 4 children. Then, Gulab died after his daughter, Shanti died because of cholera. He became suffer in his life when he cannot accept the truth about the death of his wife. Second, the tragic moment in Harilal’s life happened when Harilal didn’t got the job that he wanted the most which was he wanted to become like his father, a barrister. He thought that his father was the one that could be blamed about his education.
